Jemma Jamie Skidmore
Artist & Illustrator
In April 2021, my son was born, marking the most magical experience of my life. After enduring the isolation of 2020, motherhood brought a profound shift. We bid farewell to Vancouver, selling almost everything except for cherished art books and other paper treasures, and returned to the UK. It was undoubtedly one of the hardest things I have done.
In 2022, I launched Jemma Jamie from my parents' spare bedroom while working on my first illustrated picture book. Having spent years in the film industry, I found solace in the slow process of creating artworks and designing paper products. However, managing everything with a toddler proved daunting. Yet, I persuaded my administratively-minded sister, Lydia, that together, we could create wonderful things.
